Thank you for visiting Love Dog. Love Travel. I started this blog first of all because I love dogs. Second, I love to travel! Whenever my husband and I take short trips, we take our pup with us. This blog is for anyone wondering and wanting to take their dog on vacation with them specifically in California!
I had a King Charles Spaniel mix named Cherry growing up then in 2012, my husband and I rescued our first dog together. We rescued her from a pet adoption agency that was visiting a local Petco. We, of course, had no intention of getting a dog but the adoption agency lady said, “You can take one of the dogs home and try them out for 7 days to see if you want to adopt.” What a great idea! A test run before fully committing! Amongst a pen full of many chihuahuas was a beige pup, huddled in the corner. She was a mid-size dog. I wouldn’t say she was very cute but she was very quiet as her pen mates barked at every customer that would walk by. The name given to her was Elle. They estimated her to be around 2-3 years old. Elle was abandoned at a nearby golf course along her with one of her puppies. Her puppy was adopted right away while Elle waited for new home for 4 months. The simple words of “try her for 7 days” changed out life. Enter in my husband and I. My brother and his then girlfriend, now wife was visiting from San Fran and were with us at the time and encouraged us as well to “test” Elle by taking her home with us.
3 days into our “test period” with Elle, we knew we wanted to keep her. She was so mellow, quiet, super friendly and loved people. We renamed her Muffin (I love food) and she has been with us since. With a new hair do and lots of love, we have to admit that she is the most adorable dog in the world with the longest eyelashes! (Of course, we all say that about our dogs, right?)
I never thought I would be “one of those people” wanting to bring their dogs to restaurants and vacations but yes, we have become “one of those people!” We don’t bring Muffin with us EVERYWHERE but we try to get her out of the house as much as possible. Currently, we live in a condo complex that has amazing parks and walkways but because we both work full-time, Muffin usually stays couped up in the house pretty much all day until we get home. Poor thing but really, she sleeps most of the time.
My hope in starting this blog is for all of us with dogs, to venture out and share moments with our furry family. To some they may just be a pet, but to us, they are part of the family.
