Our poor pup has always been sensitive to long car rides. Unfortunately, she will throw up during these rides (most of the time bile...I know...TMI) but once she does, she's fine the rest of the ride. Usually before a planned, long trip, we try to take her around town with us for short rides just so that she gets used to being in the car. Sadly even on some short rides, she sometimes gets sick. Poor Muffin! If your dog is also sensitive to long car rides, I would recommend taking him/her for short trips around town prior to your trip. If they are anything like our pup, it may still not work but I think it's good to get them used to being in a car. Tips such as leaving the window open so that there is ample circulation in the car that may help is definitely helpful. We have learned to always keep extra towels in the car for … [Read more...]
Is Your Dog People Friendly?
Is your dog people friendly? We are so blessed to have a dog that is super people friendly and super other dogs shy. I know the shy dog thing may be an issue but we're not super concerned. It is really hard to take your dog traveling if they are scared of other people or vicious towards other dogs. It's so important to have your dogs around other people and dogs to that you can have a fun and enjoyable time traveling. If your dog it not a people or other dog dog, perhaps look into getting some training done. You don't want this experience to be the opposite effect and have your dogs be even more … [Read more...]
Keep Your Dog Comfortable on Trips!
Does your dog have a favorite bed, blanket and/or pillow? Our Muffin loves definitely has her favorites for all of the above! I sometimes think she's such a human! She loves having a blanket covering her and yes...she likes using a pillow for her head! So funny! It is so important to bring all of your dogs favorite bedding items when you travel. You want to make your dog feel as comfortable as possible. They are already in an unfamiliar environment and perhaps needing to acclimate to a different routine, the least we can do for them is to comfort them. Because you are traveling, you may not want to bring that expensive blanket or bed just in case something does happen to it but if they have a 2nd favorite, bring that! Muffin has multiple beds and blankets which helps because she is comfortable with all. … [Read more...]
Disneyland and Doggy Day Care Kennel
I love Disneyland but it's not that often that I get to go. Prices have skyrocketed and though I live about an hour away from Disneyland and Disney California, it's a place I don't get to visit that often. Recently, my husband and I were taking our dog for a stroll in a local shopping center when a couple that was dining outdoors commented on how cute our dog was. They shared that they were from out of state and they had brought their dog with them on their travels. They went about to share that just the other day, they went to Disneyland. I asked them what they did with their dog during their time at the "happiest place on earth" when they shared that there was a dog kennel inside of the park. I had no idea! I have been to Disneyland more than a dozen times but never even thought about animals other than the Disney characters at the … [Read more...]
