Last year for our 10 year wedding anniversary, I wanted to find a city I had never been to before, was peaceful, fairly close to home but of course, dog friendly. After much research, I came across Cambria, CA. Cambria is in San Luis Obispo Country off the coast on California Highway 1 (often referred to locals as PCH 1). Cambria is a city right in the middle between Los Angeles and San Francisco. From our house, it was roughly 3 hours away. Distance was a big deal for us because we realized while driving around town with Muffin, that she gets car sick. Even on short rides, she would get sick. Traveling with a Dog 101 – Get Training
Taking your dog with you on trips involves possible interaction with other people as well as introducing your pet to an unfamiliar environment. If your dog is rough around the edges and not people friendly, it may be wise to get some training. These training classes not only will calm your pet but also will teach you how to communicate with each other. This is very important especially when in an area unfamiliar to your dog. Your dog may become more scared or more defensive. Be aware! Local pet stores such a Petco and Petsmart have training classes all year around. Thank you for visiting Love Dog. Love Travel. I started this blog first of all because I love dogs. Second, I love to travel! Whenever my husband and I take short trips, we take our pup with us. This blog is for anyone wondering and wanting to take their dog on vacation with them specifically in California! I had a King Charles Spaniel mix named Cherry growing up then in 2012, my husband and I rescued our first dog together. We rescued her from a pet adoption agency that was visiting a local Petco.
